Alison Van Uytvanck vs Tamara Korpatsch Prediction & Betting Tips - Lyon, France, Qualifying

World number 76 Alison Van Uytvanck is up against Tamara Korpatch in round one of the Lyon Open. The winner of this match facess either top seed Caroline Garcia or Tereza Martincova in the second round. Van Uytvanck is ranked only two places above her opponent in the latest ranking list. The Belgian made a good start to 2023 winning both of her matches in the United Cup, though both were against lowly ranked players, one 381st in the world. Her first singles tournament was in Hobart where she beat Magda Linette who went on to reach the Australian Open semi-finals. Van Uytvanck lost in the last 16 of the Hobart Classic to Xinyu Wang. Another defeat followed in the first round of the Australian Open with a loss to 15th seed Petra Kvitova but did take the first set to a tie-break. This is her third match against Korpatch, the other two (both played last year) were won by the Belgian in straight sets.

Tamara Korpatch is yet to win a match this year. The German has played three tournaments in 2023 and only in the Australian Open did she play in the main draw. Her first tournament of the year saw her defeated by Storm Hunter (ranked 241st at the time) in the first qualifying round. That was despite her winning the first set. Her woes continued in the Adelaide International as another first qualifying round loss was inflicted on her by Kristina Kucova. Korpatch lost the first set without winning a game, won the second 7-5 but then won just one game in the final set against the then world 269. Korpatch didn't have to qualify for the Australian Open but lost in the first round to Emma Raducanu and won just five games. That was her fourth successive defeat on the WTA Tour. Another looks likely here, back Van Uytvanck to get the win.
