Aliaksandra Sasnovich, unseeded, will seek a first victory over third seed Caroline Garcia on Tuesday in Guadalajara. The two will square off in the second round with the winner playing unseeded Hailey Baptiste next. Aliaksandra Sasnovich has lost all five meetings with Garcia. But as both are in contrasting forms at the moment, she will be confident of claiming her first win in this series. The Belarussian has won four of her last five matches with the latest coming in the first round here. Sasnovich defeated Arantxa Rus in straight sets to win her first match in Guadalajara. She was defeated in the opening round on her debut here last season. Sasnovich has won 22 matches this season which is the same number she has lost. Fourteen of her wins have come on hard court and she is now ranked 79th in the live ranking.

Caroline Garcia has struggled with her form lately and has managed only three victories in her last 10 fixtures. Her latest defeat came in the quarterfinals in San Diego. But as she has defeated Sasnovich five times, three times on hard court, she will be confident of a winning start. Garcia made it to the third round here last season in her debut. The Frenchwoman’s struggles have seen her drop out of the WTA top 10 and is currently ranked 11th in the world. Garcia has won 32 of the 53 matches she has played this year with 16 of her victories coming on hard court. She has however not been dominant on the surface and has lost 13 times.
