Both of these teams had close matches as Group F got underway. Algeria edged out Morocco but Iceland suffered a surprise defeat by Portugal. It's extremely likely that Morocco are going to finish bottom of the group, so both Algeria and Iceland should qualify. However, in the main round points earned against other sides that have qualified are carried through. That makes this an even more important game, especially for Iceland after that 25-23 loss to Portugal. Defeat here and then beating Morocco would likely see them qualify but have no points carried through to the main round. Iceland trailed by a single goal at half-time but just couldn't get the better of their opponents. Coach Gunnar Magnusson wasn't happy with the number of mistakes his side made (15 in total). It's not back to the drawing board but he says they will "analyse Algeria' and try to limit their mistakes

Algeria also need to improve after struggling at times against Morocco. They made a terrible start against the country tipped to finish bottom of this group. By half time they were 15-8 down and a shock defeat was possible. The Algerians fought back well and ended up 24-23 winners to keep them on track for the main round. Morocco having three players sent off was a main cause of their comeback win. They can't expect that to happen again in this game and Iceland can be backed to get back on track.
