Alexei Popyrin vs Nicolás Jarry Prediction & Betting Tips - Olympic Tournament

Nicolas Jarry is one of two players from Chile seeded at this year's Paris Olympics. Jarry is the 16th seed and faces unseeded Alexei Popyrin from Australia in round one. We now look in depth at this match and make our prediction.

Jarry isn't the highest seeded Chilean in the men's singles. He's one place below 15th seeded Alejandro Tabilo but they are in different halves of the draw. Jarry is making his Olympic debut and this tournament being played on clay at Roland Garros will suit him.

Clay is his best surface and he's reached two ATP Tour finals this year  He's 24th in the live rankings but this is only his second event since losing in round one at this year's French Open. He'll want to rediscover the kind of form that saw him get to the final in Rome two months ago, where he had wins over Tommy Paul and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Alexei Popyrin has had three scheduled matches against Jarry in the past. The only one he 'won' was when Jarry withdrew due to injury. The other two were lost and one was on clay in Monte Carlo last year. The Australian is at 62nd in the live rankings. 

His most recent tournament was played on clay in Umag in the past week. He was beaten in his first match by Jakub Mensik and only won five games. The week before that he also lost his opening match in the Hamburg clay court event.

That made it seven successive defeats on this surface, including a first round exit in the French Open for the fifth year in a row. With form like that, not surprisingly our prediction is for Nicolas Jarry to win this match and then face either Stan Wawrinka or Pavel Kotov.
