18th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime begins his Shanghai Masters campaign against unseeded Alexandre Muller. This is a second round match in this hard court tournament which is the last 64. Here's our match prediction.

Auger-Aliassime received a bye into the second round of this tournament. He is currently 22nd in the live rankings but four places lower in the ATP Race. The Canadian lost in his first match in last week's event in Tokyo.

He lost in three sets to Yoshihito Nishioka, two of them going to a tie-break. That ended a run of three successive wins for him, all achieved on hard courts in the Davis Cup and two against top 30 ranked players.

The 24-year-old has struggled for consistency on hard courts this year. His best run came in Montpellier where he made it to the semi-finals. One ATP Tour final has been reached this year but that was on clay in Madrid.

Alexandre Muller is facing his opponent for only the second time. The only other meeting was played on clay six years ago with Auger-Aliassime winning in straight sets. Muller is at 74th in the live rankings, four places below his career-high.

The French player lost in the first qualifying round in Tokyo last week. He's gone better in Shanghai with a first round win over Luca Nardi. He lost the first set but then dropped only a couple of games in the next two.

That ended a run of three successive defeats but he faces a tougher task here. We go for Auger-Aliassime to win in straight sets.
