Alexandre Muller vs Cameron Norrie Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Italian Open
by Kennedy Kechula | in Tennis Predictions
After a great start to his debut appearance at the Italian Open, the qualfier Alexandre Muller faces the 13th seeded Cameron Norrie. on Thursday in the second round. The two players have never met before and the winner of this match, to be played on an outdoor clay court, will advance to the third round for the very first time where a tie with either 17th seed Alex de Minaur or the unseeded Marton Fucsovics awaits. Alexandre Muller’s superb start to his debut in the Rome Masters has seen him almost surpass his career-high world ranking as he is up five places to number 95 which is just one place short of his best-ever placing, achieved last month after his second round exit at the Open de Oeiras. The Frenchman has won his three matches with only one set dropped and should have the momentum to upset a player ranked almost 90 places above him in the official world ranking. Muller has 27 wins out of 41 matches played and has made it to two finals, in Marrakech and Waco with the former his first ATP tour-level final.
Cameron Norrie has played a number of finals this season, three to be exact and will serve off here in what is his sixth appearance believing that he can at least get past his first hurdle. The Briton started the season strongly as he made the finals in Auckland, Buenos Aires and Rio and won the Brazilian tournament to register his fifth tour title. But he has since been unable to keep this momentum going and is coming to this match having lost half of his last 10 matches. Those two contrasting forms have seen him move all the way up to 11th in the world then back down to his current placing of number 15 in the live rankings which is the lowest he has been ranked all season. Something to concern him aside from his form is that he has never progressed past the second round in Rome and with his unconvincing form coming to this tournament, this unwanted record could be extended by Muller.
