Alexander Zverev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP French Open
by Steve Ashfield | in ATP French Open Predictions
It's been chaos in the women's draw at Roland Garros but far more predictable when it comes to the guys. Four of the top six seeds contest the semi-finals, the ones missing out are Daniil Medvedev (still not at his best on clay) andout-of-form Dominic Thiem. Neither of these players have made it to the final of the French Open and the winner will take on either Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic. Zverev won the Madrid Open earlier in the clay court season. That week he beat Nadal, Thiem and Berrettini and he'll need to beat a stellar list of players if wanting to win this Grand Slam. He also won in Acapulco this year and beat Tsitsipas in the final of that event. He got off to a slow start in this tournament losing the first two sets against Oscar Otte in round one. He got his game together though and avoided an early exit. Since then, he's beaten Roman Safiullen, Laslo Dere, Kei Nishikori and in the last round, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina losing just six games.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is the fifth seed (one above Zverev) may have lost in Acapulco but he has won five of their seven previous meetings including a run of five in a row before that 2021 final. He won their only previous match on clay, a three sets win in Madrid in 2019. Tsitsipas has earned more ranking points than any other player in 2021. He's had a busy year and this is match number 46 and we haven't even got half way through the year yet. Two titles have been won this year, both on clay in Monte Carlo and Lyon. A win in this match will take him into his fifth final of the year but his first at Roland Garros and he'll hope to avoid anoher semi-final loss after being beaten by Novak Djokovic last year. Wins have come against Jeremy Chardy, Pedro Martinez, John Isner, Pablo Carreno Busta and second seeeded Daniil Medvedev. Maria Sakkari may have lost in the women's semi-final but Greek eyes will be smiling as Tsitsipas gets a win over Zverev.
