Alexander Zverev bids to win a sixth title of the year. He faces Italy's Matteo Berrettini in his first group match at the 2021 ATP Tour Finals. It's been a great year for Zverev with his wins including the Olympic title and Masters titles in both Madrid and Cincinnati. His most recent title win was in Vienna but for the third seed, who won this tournament in 2018, he is yet to win a Grand Slam title. The German is so consistent though with six tournaments in a row in which he has made at least the quarter finals. His most recent tournament saw him lose to Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters.

Matteo Berrettini has home advantage now that this tournament has moved to Italy. That puts more pressure on him the sixth seed, so we'll have to wait and see if he can cope with it. He has played Zverev on four occasions and lost three of them. His only win was two years ago, when beating Zverev on clay in the Rome Masters. Since then, Zverev has had two wins, the most recent being in the final of the Madrid Masters this year. Berrettini qualified for this tournament in sixth place with 4090 points, not a bad total considering he only played 14 events due to injury. He's won two titles this year, winning in Begrade and the Cinch grass court title in London, prior to losing in the final at Wimbledon. Since that Grand Slam final loss, he's played four tournaments and not made it past the quarter final in any of them. Back Zverev to win this match.
