Alexander Zverev, the top seed at the 2025 Argentina Open, begins his campaign with a second-round showdown against unseeded Dusan Lajovic. The winner will set up a quarter-final tie against Francisco Cerundolo, Luciano Darderi, Juan Cerundolo or Roman Burruchaga. Below is our prediction for this match.

Alex Zverev is back to the tour after taking a two-week break. The world number two is coming off a runner-up finish at the Australian Open.

He has had an exciting start to the year, winning eight of his first nine fixtures. The German will be confident of a ninth victory as he has an unbeaten record against Lajovic.

Zverev won all four times he faced off with Lajovic. Two of their battles, played at the French Open, went the full distance.

Dusan Lajovic is seeking to qualify for the Buenos Aires quarter-finals for a third successive season. The Serb defeated Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets in the first round.

Though he didn’t drop a set to the Spaniard, he was nonetheless made to sweat for the victory. The match lasted two hours and 21 minutes and saw him pushed to seven games in each set.

Lajovic is having a slow start to the year and after seven matches, he has lost four times and remains outside the ATP’s top 80.
