Alexander Zverev vs Daniel Altmaier Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

It's an all-German match in the second round of the 2023 US Open. 12th seeded Alexander Zverev takes on compatriot Daniel Altmaier for a place in the last 32. The winner will face either 19th seed Grigor Dimitrov or former champion Andy Murray. Zverev beat Aleksandar Vukic in the first round, winning each of the three sets 6-4. The German missed last year's US Open due to injury but in 2021 was the runner-up here and reached the last four in 2021. Zverev has already made it to one Grand Slam semi-final this year, doing so at Roland Garros. He's been steadily getting back to top form after being injured in the 2021 French Open. His most recent tournament was in Cincinnati where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the last four. On the way to that semi-final,  Zverev had wins over Grigor Dimitrov and Daniil Medvedev.

Daniel Altmaier began this tournament ranked 53rd, two places below his career high. His four-set first round win over Constant Lestienne (in which he lost the first set) has taken him to 48th in the live rankings. Altmaier only played one hard court tournament in the lead up to this Grand Slam. That saw him beaten in the last 64 by Alexei Popyrin. He had in fact lost to Lestienne in the qualifying rounds but got into the main draw as a lucky loser. His best form on hard courts this year has been on the Challenger Tour with two quarter finals reached. He much prefers to play on clay so Zverev is an even hotter favorite to win this match in straight sets.
