Alexander Zverev vs Andy Murray Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Qatar Open
by Kennedy Kechula | in Tennis Predictions
Fourth seed Alexander Zverev will battle it out with wildcard Andy Murray in the second round of the Qatar Open on Wednesday on an outdoor hard court. Murray has the advantage (three wins) in their four meetings together though Zverev did win the last time they met in 2021. Murray defeated Lorenzo Sonego in the first round, coming back from a set down to win in three. It was the Briton’s first match in a month after being beaten in the third round at the Australian Open in four sets by the seeded Roberto Bautista Agut. It placed his record for the season at 3-2. Murray has twice won in Doha but that was more than a decade ago.
Alexander Zverev is set to play in his fifth tournament of the year and received a bye to the second round. He has had a topsy-turvy start to the year and has won just three matches with the last coming in Rotterdam. His inconsistent start has seen him drop to 16th in the live ranking but he can move up to 14th with a win over Murray. The former number two is still getting back to full fitness after sustaining several injuries in the latter stages of 2022. The German started his season in the United Cup and earned his first win of the season in the first round at Melbourne by prevailing in five sets against lucky loser Juan Pablo Varillas. His next victory came in straight sets against Stanislas Wawrinka in the Davis Cup.

Our Alexander Zverev vs Andy Murray Prediction
Alexander Zverev is ranked considerably higher than Andy Murray coming into this match but he has struggled in the year and this could be because he is yet to return to full fitness after an injury prone 2022. Andy Murray has struggled also but he has shown grit to battle and avoid straight-set losses. We feel the Briton will edge it here due to this. Our Alexander Zverev v Andy Murray prediction is a win for Murray in three sets.
