Second seeded Jannik Sinner takes on unseeded Alexander Bublik in the Libema Open second round. Sinner has been given a wild card for this grass court tournament being held in the Netherlands. The italian reached the last eight at Wimbledon last year after previously never having won a match there. Sinner begins this tournament ranked ninth in the world. That's one place below his career high achieved in April. The Italian has won one ATP Tour title this year, a hard court event in Montpellier. He's also lost two other finals, both to Daniil Medvedev who is the top seed in this tournament. He now tries to get soe more winning form on grass courts. He won four out of six on grass last year taking his record to 6-7. At the 2022 Wimbledon championships he beat Carlos Alcaraz and then lost to Novak Djokovic after taking a 2-0 lead. Hey' s won his only two previous meetings with Bublik. Both were in 2021 but were on hard courts.

Alexander Bublik started this tournament ranked 47th in the world. He hasn't had the best of years with a 7-18 record on the ATP Tour. Bublik was ranked 37th at the start of this year but has been as low as 56th. Highlights of an inconsistent year include a run to the last four in Marseille. That was much needed as he'd started the year with eight successive defeats. Since then his only quarter final appearances have been in two Challenger Tour events. On grass, the 25-year-old has reached the third round at Wimbledon in both 2021 and 2022. To reach this second round he beat David Goffin 7-5 7-5. He's too inconsistent at present though and we go for Sinner to win this. That will see him take on either seventh seeded Ugo Humbert or Emil Ruusuvouri in round three.
