Alexander Bublik and Grigor Dimitrov, both unseeded, will play each other on Thursday in the third round at the Paris Masters. The winner will then set up a quarterfinal showdown with either Hubert Hurkacz or Francisco Cerundolo. Alexander Bublik will seek to extend his advantage over Dimitrov here. A fourth win against the Bulgarian will also see him equal his best-ever result at a Masters tournament. Bublik has made it to the last eight twice in such tournaments but this will be the first time he is doing it here. Before this year, the Kazakh had never advanced past the second round in Paris and is now in his fourth main draw appearance. Bublik, ranked 32nd in the live ranking, has been in excellent form here and has won both his rounds without dropping a set. He defeated Nicolas Jarry through two tiebreakers in the last round.

Grigor Dimitrov is coming off an impressive three-set victory over third seed and former Paris champion Daniil Medvedev. The match lasted close to three hours and saw the last two sets require tiebreakers. Dimitrov has now defeated two of the current top three in the world in the space of three weeks. He also defeated Carlos Alcaraz in his run to the semifinals in Shanghai and will hope to spark a similar outcome here. Dimitrov is a one-time Paris semifinalist but has lost in this very round more times than he has progressed. The current world number 17 has been eliminated in the third round here eight times in his 10 main draw appearances. Dimitrov has two victories against Bublik though none was achieved on an indoor hard court.
