World number 21 Alexander Zverev will take on 39th-ranked Alexander Bublik in the semi-final of the 2023 ATP Halle Open on Saturday. The winner of this match will face either Roberto Bautista Agut or Andrey Rublev in the final. This is the fourth time the pair will face off, with Bublik currently leading the head-to-head 2-1. The Kazakh has had an impressive run upto this stage, beating the 2018 champion Borna Coric in straight sets in the opening match before overcoming an in-form Jan-Lennard Struff in round two. Against Jannik Jannik Sinner in the last round, the pair exchanged blows in the first set, but the Italian was carrying a knock and decided to withdraw early on in the second set. With that, Bublik is now 15-21 for the year and 4-1 on the grass. While he has beaten this opponent twice in the past, they have never met on this surface, and Bublik will know that he will need to be at his absolute best to get past a solid-looking German in this one. 

Meanwhile, Zverev has reached the final of this tournament twice in the past and will be hoping that the third time is the charm. His path to the semi-final has been a relatively straightforward one, with straight-set wins over Dominic Thiem and Denis Shapovalov in the earlier rounds. He then went on to take down the clay court specialist Nicolas Jarry in the last round, converting three of six break points and dominating in his own service games. The German is now 24-15 for the year and 3-0 on the grass. Can he keep his good run going in this one?
