Consistent Alex de Minaur bids to maintain his 100 per cent record against Alexander Bublik. The Australian is the tenth seed at Indian Wells with his opponent in this third round match seeded 20th. For the winner there's a match in the last 16 against either sixth seed Alexander Zverev or the 27th seeded Tallon Griekspoor. This is an outdoor hard court Masters 1000 tournament so plenty of ranking points available. Alex de Minaur has plenty of those already this year. Only Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev have earned more points than him this year. The Australian came into this tournament in good form having won the hard court title in Acapulco last week. That was his second final of the year having previously lost in the Rotterdam final. He's never got past round four in this tournament and reached that stage in both 2021 and 2022. His first match here this week saw him beat unseeded Taro Daniel for the loss of just three games.

To reach round four, Alexander Bublik has to beat de Minaur for the first time. He's lost both of their previous meetings. The most recent of those losses was on clay and the other only saw two games played before Bublik retired. Both matches were played three years ago. Bublik is at a career high of 20th in the latest rankings but up two places after beating qualifier Jang Yuncheng in the second round.
