Once again, Alex Pereira has stepped in to save Dana White’s pay-per-view, accepting a third title defence in the space of just 11 months since he earned the vacant title at Madison Square Garden last year. 

Since then, “Poatan” has taken on all-comers, successfully defending his title against former UFC Champ Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 before stopping Jiri Prochazka with a knock-out at UFC 303. 

The Brazilian is now 11-2 in the UFC, and even at 37 years of age, he is still one of the most potent finishers in the game, owing to his devastating striking and incredible speed and precision. 

As far as the tale of the tape goes, Pereira has the height advantage at 1.93m compared to Rountree at 1.85m, as well as the reach advantage with a 200.7cm wingspan versus the American’s 194.3cm. 

Meanwhile, there have been plenty of questions asked about Khalil Rountree being given a title fight, having lost to the likes of Marcin Prachnio, Ion Cutelaba and Johnny Walker in the past. 

However, "The War Horse" is carrying excellent momentum into this bout, having finished Anthony Smith in the third round of his last fight, marking his fifth win in a row - four of which came by TKO/KO. 

In terms of career knockouts, Rountree has finished 10 of his 14 victories by putting his opponents to sleep, while Pereira has stopped the match by knockout nine times in his 11 wins.
