Eighth seed Alex de Minaur will face the unseeded Alex Michelsen in the fourth round at the Australian Open. The winner of their second meeting at a major will take on Jannik Sinner, Marcos Giron, Miomir Kecmanovic or Holger Rune. Below is our prediction for this match.

Alex Michelsen defeated de Minaur in their only hardcourt matchup last February in Los Cabos. He won in straight sets and will be confident of another victory given his strong performance this week.

The American, who won six of eight matches this season, has lost just one set in his three matches in Melbourne. This was in his opener against 11th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Michelsen, who has moved up to 35th in the live ranking, defeated Karen Kahchanov to advance to this round.

Alex de Minaur has lost in this very round in each of his last three appearances in Melbourne. He will be keen to break this fourth-round curse.

The Australian, who is unbeaten through his first five matches this season, defeated Francisco Cerundolo in four sets in the third round. Just like Michelsen, he has also lost just one set this week.

The 25-year-old has moved up to seventh in the live ranking.

De Minaur defeated Michelsen last season at the French Open by straight sets.
