Fifth seed Andrey Rublev takes on tenth seeded Alex de Minaur in the Australian Open fourth round. Whoever wins this last 16 match will take on either fourth seed Jannik Sinner or 15th seeded Karen Khachanov in the quarter finals. If Rublev can win this match, it'll take him into his third consecutive quarter final in Grand Slams. He has played in nine Grand Slam quarter finals but (and he must be fed up of reading this stat), he's never won one of them. He's twice made it to the last eight in this tournament, most recently last year. 2024 has seen him actually win one quarter final. That was in Hong Kong and he went on to win the tournament beating Emil Ruusuvouri in the final. So far in this Grand Slam, Rublev has won three matches, the last two being in straight sets. His opening match was a tough one though as he had to go to five sets to get past Thiago Seyboth Wild despite winning the first two.

Alex de Minaur may be playing in his home Grand Slam but he's never made it past the fourth round in Melbourne.  This is the third successive year in which he's reached the fourth round of this tournament. Beating Rublev would take him into only his second Grand Slam quarter final, the other being in the 2020 US Open. De Minaur was ranked 10th at the start of this tournament but down a place in the live rankings. His year began representing Australia in the United Cup where he won three out of four singles matches including beating Novak Djokovic (who had injury problems) and Alexander Zverev. His good form has continued in this tournament with three straight sets win but Rublev is the first seeded player he's faced. He leads Rublev 3-2 in previous meetings. Two of those wins came six years ago and Rublev has won two of the last three. We tip over 3.5 sets to be played in this match.
