Alex De Minaur vs Adrian Mannarino Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Libema Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Fourth seeded Alex de Minaur takes on unseeded Adrian Mannarino in the Libema Open second round. The winner of this match faces either Sam Querrey or Brandon Nakashima in the last eight. Grass is a surface that suits the Australian Alex de Minaur who had a successful but also frustrating 2021. He reached the semi-finals at Queen's Club and then won the Eastbourne tournament. It was all a bit disappointing when he lost in the first round at Wimbledon to Sebastian Korda. de Minaur began this week ranked 22nd in the world but up one in the live rankings. He's bidding to reach his fourth quarter final of 2022. His best runs have come in Barcelona and Molcan (both on clay) with semi-finals reached in both events. He's currently 20th in the live ATP Race and that's 60 places above his opponent.
Adrian Mannarino is the world number 70 but down eight places in the live rankings. He can climb back up three positions if winning this match. Mannarino also had a successful grass court season last year, getting to the semi-finals in Mallorca. It could have been even better getting to a final set with Roger Federer in the Wimbledon first round before retiring. The early part of this year saw him reach three quarter finals and the last 16 of the Australian Open. His form has dipped in recent months though and the Frenchman arrived here having lost nine of his last ten matches. That included losing to world number 195 Ryan Penniston in the first round of the Surbiton grass court tournament last week. He had a struggle in the first round of this event needing two tie-breaks to beat qualifier Andreas Seppi. The world number 22 has won his only previous match against Mannarino. That was played on a hard court three years ago with de Minaur winning in straight sets. Go for him to get another win in this first encounter on grass.
