Alejandro Tabilo is in with a good chance of being seeded at Roland Garros this year. He can boost his chances if beating Flavio Cobolli in round one of the Madrid Masters. The winner of this match will face 22nd-seeded Nicolas Jarry in round two of this outdoor clay court tournament. Tabilo is 34th in the live rankings so only needs to go up a couple of places to be seeded in the French Open. He's had a good year on all surfaces. At the start of the year he won the Auckland hard court event. His success has continued on clay with a run to the final in Santiago and last week, the last four in Bucharest. That's taken him up to 20th in the Live ATP Race.

Flavio Cobolli had a match to remember last week. He took on the returning Rafael Nadal in Barcelona last week but lost in straight sets. The Italian is 49th in the ATP Race and 60th in the overall live list. His record on clay isn't that impressive at present. Before the loss to Nadal he was beaten in the first qualifying round of the Monte Carlo Masters in straight sets. The last 16 was reached in Marrakech but his one win came against a wild card ranked outside the top 200. Cobolli has never got past round one at Roland Garros and his best form in 2024 has been on hard courts. We go for Tabilo to get the victory.
