Wildcard, Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez, has made it to the quarter-finals in Acapulco and will battle unseeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. A semi-final showdown with either Denis Shapovalov or Marcos Giron will await the winner. Below is our prediction for this match. 

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is having quite the debut campaign in Acapulco. The Spaniard defeated seventh seed Frances Tiafoe in three sets in the last round. 

He has needed a decider in both of his matches this week. Davidovich Fokina, who is placed 49th in the live ranking, arrived in Acapulco after finishing as runner-up in the Delray Beach Open.

Rodrigo Mendez is playing in his first-ever quarter-final tie at a tour event. The Mexican advanced to this round after being granted a walkover by second seed Casper Ruud. 

Before this week, Mendez had never won a main draw match at a tour event. He defeated Aleksandar Vukic in three sets in the first round. Advancing to this round has propelled Mendez up a massive 125 places to 231st in the live ranking. 

The 19-year-old has won seven of 11 matches this season. He had his season debut on hardcourts as he made his first appearance at a tour event this week.
