He won the Mexican Open for his only title so far. de Minaur has rode the momentum from Los Cabos and in his path has defeated a former champion and a top 10-seeded player. He shocked 2021 champion and world number three Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the quarterfinals. The match lasted for two hours and saw de Minaur pushed to seven games in each set with the opener requiring a tiebreak. The win has moved him up three places back to his career-high ranking of 15th on the live ranking.
