Alcaraz C/Zverev A vs Fritz T/Shelton B Prediction & Betting Tips - Laver Cup - doubles

Day one of the Laver Cup match between Team Europe and Team World ends with a doubles. Carlos Alcaraz teams up with Alexander Zverev to face American duo Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, Here's our match prediction.

This is the fourth match on day one and Team Europe will be hoping to have already built up a lead. They lost the last Laver Cup 13-2 with just one match being won over the three days of competition.

Alcaraz and Zverev are both currently ranked in the world's top three with Zverev second and Alcaraz a spot lower. That doesn't necessarily guarantee them being a great doubles team though.

Alcaraz has only played four doubles matches this year. With Rafael Nadal, he got to the quarter-finals of the men's doubles at the Paris Olympics. He was also in doubles action for Spain in the Davis Cup last week and was on the winning side.

Alexander Zverev has played more doubles matches this year than his partner. He won four out of five mixed doubles matches as Germany won the United Cup. He's also reached a clay court men's doubles final in Monte Carlo.

Taylor Fritz has also seen plenty of doubles action this year. The American teamed up with Tommy Paul to win the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. He also reached the final of the men's doubles at Queen's Club and won his only United Cup doubles.

World number 17 Ben Shelton has reached two men's doubles semi-finals this year and one other quarter-final. This could well be a close match but we feel Alcaraz and Zverev can just edge it.
