World number 85 Albert Ramos-Vinolas will take on 135rd-ranked Fabio Fognini in the first round of the ATP Gstaad Open on Tuesday. The winner of this match will face Lorenzo Sonego in the next round. These players have met 13 times in the past, with Ramos-Vinolas winning twice while Fognini has won the other 11 encounters. The Italian’s best results this season have been third-round appearances, which he managed in both Rome and Roland Garros ahead of this tournament which may suggest that he is starting to find some form. Fognini is 6-10 for the year, with all six wins coming on the clay surface. He has beaten this opponent 11 times in the past, including five times on the clay, though all of those wins came before 2015.
