Albert Ramos Vinolas vs Christopher O'Connell Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Geneva Open

Albert Ramos Vinolas takes on Chris O'Connell in the first round of the Geneva Open. The Spaniard is ranked 42nd in the world and that's 82 places above his Australian opponent. Whoever wins this match has a tough task ahead in round two against the fourth seed Reilly Opelka. Vinolas has had an inconsistent year but did win a clay court tournament held in Cordeba. He had a win over Lorenzo Sonego (ranked 23rd at the time) but all the other players beaten were ranked outside the top 100. In Europe, his best result on clay has been in Estoril where he was the defending champion. He only made it to the semi-final this year, losng to Sebastian Baez who has beaten him three times this year. Vinolas got to the last 16 in Monte Carlo but lost his first match in both Barcelona and Rome. 

Chris O'Connell is 124th in the rankings but was 175th at the start of this year. He recently won a Challenger Tour event on clay, his first success since 2019. His title came in Split beating Zsomber Piros in the final. He won the first set 6-3 but then his opponent retired after losing the first two games of the second set. Most of his year has been spent on the lower level tour but he did get a wild card to the Australian Open and reached the last 32 beating Diego Schwartzmann. No wild card here though (he has one for Roland Garros) and two qualifying matches had to be won to get into the main draw. This is a tough match for him and the tip is to back Vinolas to win.
