Only four places in the rankings separate these two finalists. Albert Ramos Vinolas is the world number 46 and seeded seventh for this tournament. He takes on Britain's Cameron Norrie who began the week as world number 50 and is unseeded here. Vinolas has won two ATP Tour clay court titles and lost in six finals. That includes getting to the final of the Monte Carlo Masters in 2017, losing to Rafael Nadal. This is his second final of the year, the other being in Argentina, where he lost to Juan Manuel Cerundelo. Recently he reached the last four in Marabella but didn't get past the last sixteen in both Monte Carlo and Barcelona. Much better form this week though and he is yet to drop a set. The semi-final saw him defeat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina for the loss of only five games.

Suddenly British players have started getting good results on clay. After the recent success of Dan Evans in Monte Carlo, Cameron Norrie has also been getting some great results. He made it to the last eight in Barcelona, beating both Karen Khachanov and David Goffin. He made a shaky start, dropping the first set to Pedro Martinez before getting the win. The last eight saw him beat second seed Cristian Garin, again having to come from a set down. In his semi-final, Norrie beat another seed defeating Marin Clic in two close sets. These two players have met twice before, both on clay. Vinolas got the win in both of those matches. He can get the win here, don't be surprised if it goes to three sets though.
