Somewhat unusually, Afghanistan have the better recent one-day form of the two teams competing in this game. Despite losing to South Africa in their opening Champions Trophy game, the win over England was Afghanistan's fourth one-day win in the last five matches.
They have also managed best-of-three series wins in One Day events against Ireland, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in 2024, as well as notching the win against England just 48 hours ago.
However, they are 0-4 against Australia in the One Day game.
In addition to a perfect record in One-Day games against Afghanistan, Australia have also discovered some much-needed one-day form in this tournament. They secured the highest batting total and record run chase to beat England in their opener before their second game was abandoned due to rain against South Africa.

Both teams should come into this game with relatively few injury concerns. However, the quick turnaround for the Afghanistan team from their game against England may well mean that they are far more likely of the two teams to suffer with fatigue.
That is unlikely to be reason enough to make any changes to the eleven players selected for Afghanistan who will try to beat Australia for the first time in One Day action.
A Key man for Afghanistan could be opener Ibrahim Zadran.
He scored a superb 177 against England which was the highest batting total in the competition's history. Bowler Azmatullah Omarzai is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far with six wickets, including 5/58 in their win over England.
Australia will be well-rested for this game meaning they should have a fully fit squad to pick from. Wicket-keeper Josh Inglis 120 not out was key to their win over England, while young bowler Adam Zampa has caught the eye in the absence of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.
Glenn Maxwell is one to watch with the all-rounder scoring 200 runs in the Aussies last one-day game against Afghanistan.
