Seventh seeded Adrian Mannarino takes on British player Liam Broady in the Delray Beach Open first round. Mannarino is ranked 53rd in the world and that's 63 places higher than his opponent. The winner of this match takes on either Brandon Nakashima or Denis Kudla in round two. Mannarino has been busy this year and this is his sixth tournament of the year. His best performance was at the Australian Open when beating three players ranked higher than him, before losing in the last 16 to Rafael Nadal. Wins came against James Duckworth and seeded players Hubert Hurkacz and Aslan Karatsev. His good form continued in Montpellier and Dallas as he made the quarter finals. All of which has seen Mannarino climb 18 places in the rankings this year.

Liam Broady is at a career high ranking at present. He began 2022 in 128th place so like his opponent has made a good start to the new year. He's not been getting wins over the calibre of players that his opponent has. Broady successfully qualified for the Australian Open main draw but lost in round in straight sets to Nick Kyrgios. Three players were beaten in the qualifiers but all were ranked outside the top 100. He then returned to the Challenger Tour for a tournament in Cleveland and lost in the second round to Alexis Galarneau who was ranked 375th at the time. Broady also played in Dallas last week but lost in the last 16. Back Mannarino to win this in straight sets.
