Two seeds meet in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 tournament. 13th seed Grigor Dimitrov faces Adrian Mannarino who is seeded 21st. The winner goes into the last 16 and will take on either fourth seeded Daniil Medvedev or 29th seed Sebastian Korda. This is an outdoor hard court tournament and Dimitrov has shown good form on this surface in 2024. The Bulgarian is up to 12th in the live rankings and is in the same position in the ATP Live Race. He's already won one title this year with a triumph in Brisbane. More good results followed with a run to the final in Marseille and the last four in Rotterdam. In the Australian Open he got to the last 32 and had won 13 of his 16 matches before this tournament. This is his first tournament since the end of February and he's so far beaten unseeded Alexandre Muller in straight sets.

Adrian Mannarino has a terrible record against Grigor Dimitrov. He's lost all four of their previous meetings and all were played on outdoor hard courts. The most recent loss was in Washington last year. The Frenchman is up to 20th in the live list and that's only three behind his career high. In the Live ATP Race, Mannarino is up to 32nd after Saturday's Indian Wells matches. He's not had anywhere near as good a year as his opponent. Three of his four matches in the United Cup were lost but he did reach the last 16 of the Australian Open before losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets, not winning a game until the third. His best performance has been a semi-final in Dallas but that was achieved via a walkover and a retirement. He then lost three matches in a row. So far this week he's beaten Tomas Machac in straight sets but we tip Dimitrov to beat him in two.
