Adrian Mannarino vs Daniel Evans Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Finals
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Sixth seeded Daniel Evans was outside the top 30 a few months ago but is now up to 25th in the rankings. He takes on world number 42 Adrian Mannarino in the second round of the cinch Championship. The winner will face either top seeded Manuel Berrettino or former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in the last eight. Evans has had success on grass in the past and won two successive Challenger tournaments in 2019. His best performance at Wimbledon has been reaching the third round in both 2016 and 2019. This year has been a surprising one for Evans, particularly his form in recent weeks on clay with wins over Novak Djokovic and David Goffin. His year began with winning an ATP 250 tournament in Australia with wins over two top 25 players. Last week saw Evans get to the third round of the Challenger grass court tournament held in Nottingham The first round of this event saw him defeat Alexei Popyrin in straight sets. He's had two previous matches against Mannarino, the most recent being in the 2019 US Open. Before that though, Mannarino beat Evans in this tournament three years ago.
It's not been a great year for Adrian Mannarino and before this week, he'd only won five out of 20 matches played. That poor form has seen him drop eight places this year and in terms of points earned this year, he's 95th compared to 23rd for his opponent. He made it to the third round of the Australian Open but then won just two matches in his next eight tournaments. The former world number 22 has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon on three occasions, the last one being three years ago. 2019 saw him win an ATP Tour grass court tournament in the Netherlands The first round of this event saw him beat Liam Broady in straight sets. Now he takes on another British player and it's Evans who should be backed to get the win.
