Germany are up against France in their second Group D match in the 2024 United Cup. Alexander Zverev faces France's Adrian Mannarino in the men's singles element of this tie with the women's match being between Angelique Kerber and Caroline Garcia. Zverev got Germany's campaign off to a great start with a three-set win over Italy's Lorenzo Sonego. He lost the first set on a tie-break but fought back well to get the win. Zverev then teamed up with Angelique Kerber (who had lost to Jasmine Paolini) to win the mixed doubles and give Germany the win. Zverev began this tournament ranked seventh in the world and won two tournaments in the 2023 season. One was on clay but the most recent title win was on hard courts (the surface for this tournament) in China three months ago.

Adrian Mannarino is ranked 22nd in the world but a win over Zverev will take him up a couple of places. The French player won three tournaments in the 2023 season, the latter two being on hard courts. He beat Sebastien Korda and Jack Draper to win those two titles but now faces a top ten player in the United Cup. Mannarino won't need to be reminded of his woeful record against the German. All eight of his previous matches against Zverev have been lost. The most recent of those defeats was in August of this year in the Western & Southern Open and Mannarino has gone three matches without even winning a set. We tip Zverev to get win number nine against Mannarino.
