IPL 2025: A Star is born! Youngest Player Ever in IPL Vaibhav Suryavanshi Claims Second Piece of Tournament History

Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest T20 Centurion
The 2025 Indian Premier League has brought us several memorable moments, but few can come close to what we witnessed at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday evening when the Rajasthan Royals stepped out to bat in pursuit of the Gujarat Titans’ 209/4.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi took to the crease opposite Yashasvi Jaiswal, and from the first over, it looked as though the team from Rajasthan were the IPL leaders and not on the verge of elimination.
At just 14 years and 32 days, Suryavanshi produced an innings for the ages, smashing the Titans' bowlers for a blistering 101 runs off just 38 deliveries, and our Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians prediction suggests RR are now the team to beat in their next match.
Suryavanshi’s knock included seven fours and 11 sixes and was the fastest by an Indian player. Bear in mind, this was against a GT bowling attack that includes the likes of internationally-capped players Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma and Rashid Khan.
The teenager's innings now stands as the second-fastest in the history of the IPL, only bettered by Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton in 2013. It also saw him make history, becoming the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 cricket, just a week after he became the youngest player to feature in the IPL.
And just like that, history was made… twice!
With the youngster taking the bowlers to the cleaners, Jaiswal’s stunning 70* in 40 balls at a strike rate of 175.00 went almost unnoticed. Speaking after his incredible innings, Suryavanshi said:
"It feels really good. It was my first century in the IPL in my third innings. What I've been practicing for the last three-four months, the result is showing. I don't see the ground so much, just focus on the ball.”
The Royals snapped-up the 14-year-old at the IPL mega auction for just ₹1.10 crore and he was not expected to even make the first team this season until Sanju Samson sustained an abdominal injury, which opened up a gap in the top-order.
Can The Rajasthan Royals Qualify For The IPL Playoffs?

With Suryavanshi and Jaiswal at the top of the order, the Rajasthan Royals’ future looks extremely bright. However, all the best online betting sites seem to agree that the team will have to wait at least another year to get a chance to challenge for the title.
That victory against Gujarat was only the Royals’ third in 10 matches this season, which leaves them on six points with four games left to play. Over the years, 16 points has been the magical number to secure a playoff spot, and even if the team wins all their remaining matches, they can only get to a maximum of 14 points.
Indeed, there have been instances where 14 points have been enough for a team to progress to the knockouts, but RR also have a very poor net run rate of -0.349, which is the third-worst in the competition.
Still, Suryavanshi has brought a reason for the Royals’ fans to smile again, and everyone is now eager to see what this teenage prodigy can achieve.
