Tournament Overview and Schedule
Over 2,200 players will be aiming for glory at this year's Yonex Sunrise Indian Masters (Veteran) National Badminton Championship in Goa, with several shuttlers returning to the tournament after featuring in the 46th edition held in Panchkula, Haryana.
This competition will be used as part of the selection base for the BWF World Seniors Championship, which will be staged in Pattaya, Thailand, between September 7 and 14 later this year. All players are eligible to participate in a maximum of three events (1 singles, 1 doubles and 1 mixed doubles) across the eight-day tournament.
Among the most notable participants at the 2025 Indian Masters National Badminton Championship are Leroy D’Sa, Abhin Shyam Gupta, Vijay Lancy, Nikhil Kanitkar and Joy Anthony. The Championship includes 45 events ranging from the 35+ to 75+ age groups in the following Order of Play:

All games in the main draw will be contested on a best-of-three games basis of 21 points in a rally point system. However, if necessary, officials of matches can alter this to a best-of-three games of 15 points. The BAI Competition Regulations and General Competition Regulations apply to all matches in the tournament.

Initiatives to Promote Badminton in Goa
Manoj Patil, the president of the Goa Badminton Association, rolled out seven initiatives that the organisation intends to implement in the coming months to help develop and promote the sport in Goa. These include:
- The launch of a Grassroots Badminton Program
- Hosting two All India Ranking Tournaments (Under-15 and Under 17)
- Setting up a Technical Officials’ Workshop
- Implementing a Talent Identification Program
- Creating a School Outreach Program
- Organising a Corporate Badminton Tournament
- Staging a Grand Badminton Convention of past and presnet players
