India Golf Stars Aiming to Light Up the Hero Indian Open 2025

Sharma, Ahlawat Lead Indian Contingent
Two-time winner on the DP World Tour and arguably the dark horse at the upcoming Hero Indian Open is Shubhankar Sharma. The 28-year-old from Jammu reached his peak international ranking of 64 last year and enters this tournament off the back of a solid performance at the Joburg Open in South Africa.
Sharma has a total of 10 tour wins to his name, including two European and Asian Tours, as well as a Sunshine Tour. He also finished tied-eighth at the Open Championship in 2023 and has racked up six professional golf tour of India wins.
Veer Ahlawat is another to keep an eye on after a sensational end to the 2024 season. He finished tied for first with Amardeep Malik in the TATA Steel Tour Championship in Jamshedpur in December and clinched the title on the second extra hole to lift the trophy and pocket ₹1,56 crore in the process.
That victory was Ahlawat’s second of the year on the domestic tour, and the ninth in 13 PGTI tournaments in 2024 which he finished inside the top 10. His performances earned him a spot on the 2025 card for the DP World Tour.

Shiv Shankar Prasad Chawrasia - Two-Time Champion

SSP Chawrasia will be carrying the India flag to the 2025 Hero Indian Open, which will run from March 27 to 30 at the DLF Golf and Country Club, having received a special invitation from the title sponsors in the lead-up to the tournament.
The 46-year-old has six international titles to his name, two of which were at this very competition, back-to-back in 2016 and 2017, while he has also finished as runner-up of four occasions in 1999, 2006, 2013, and 2015.
Additionally, the DLF Golf and Country Club here in Gurugram holds a special place in Chawrasia’s heart, as it was at this very venue that he racked up the Avantha Masters in 2014 and the Hero Indian Open in 2017.

Kartik Singh - India’s Golf Prodigy

Last, but certainly not least, we have to mention golf sensation Kartik Singh, whose stock has skyrocketed over the last year after he became the youngest Indian player to make the cut at an international pro tournament, doing so at this venue in February.
At just 15 years of age, Singh competed against his hero - world number 12 Bryson De Chambeau - at the International Series India earlier this year, as well as the likes of Paul Casey, Carlos Ortiz, Sebastian Munoz, and Anirban Lahiri from LIV Golf.
Despite his youth, Singh exuded confidence and posted a brilliant one-under-par 71 in the second round which was enough for him to make the cut comfortably tied in 30th place, becoming the fourth youngest player on the Asian Tour to make it to the weekend.
